Eagles striker eyes 12th Serie A goal against SampdoriaFormer Napoli striker Gianfranco Zola says Napoli star Victor Osimhen is the heir to Romelu Lukaku but adds that the Nigerian needs to improve, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Lukaku joined Chelsea for a record £97.5m this summer after helping Inter Milan to a first Scudetto since 2010 last season. The Belgian scored 64 goals in 95 appearances in two seasons for the Nerazzurri and Zola believes the Nigerian striker has all the qualities to emulate Lukaku.

Osimhen, 22, joined Napoli from Lille in the summer of 2020 and has scored three goals in four appearances for the Partenopei so far this season.“Napoli are really strong in every department,” Zola said.

“They have Osimhen, Insigne and Politano up front, they have quality in midfield, a solid defence with Kalidou Koulibaly and two reliable goalkeepers.“I can’t see weak points in their team.

“I didn’t know Osimhen when he arrived last year, but I’ve studied him a little and I’ve discovered a talented player.“His movements are so good and his athletic strength can be devastating.

He is Lukaku’s heir, he is still young and with room for improvement.”He scored ten goals in 30 appearances with Napoli in his first season at the club.

The Partenopei have won their opening four league games of the season and can return to the top of the Serie A table if they beat Sampdoria on Thursday (today). He will be looking to score his 12th Serie A goal in the encounter.
