Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has made the final shortlist for the CAF 2025 African Footballer of the Year award.

The 26-year-old was shortlisted alongside Liverpool and Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah and PSG and Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi.

The trio were selected from the initial 10-man shortlist for the prestigious award.

CAF released the final shortlist ahead of Nigeria's crucial FIFA World Cup playoff against the Democratic Republic of Congo on Sunday, November 16.

Osimhen, who won the coveted prize two years ago, will be looking to replicate that feat this year.

However, Paris Saint-Germain's Achraf Hakimi remains a strong candidate for the award following his heroics with the French champions this year.

The Moroccan international won a historic treble with Luis Enrique's team and reached the final of the FIFA Club World Cup in the summer.

Mohamed Salah, on the other hand, won the Premier League with Liverpool and was the top scorer with 29 goals.

Osimhen also won a domestic double with Galatasaray and was the Super Lig top scorer with 26 goals.
