Ex-Super Falcons captain, Asisat Oshoala has warned Nigeria to guard against complacency ahead of the upcoming Africa Women's Cup of Nations (AWCON).

The Super Falcons are set to defend their AWCON title in Morocco next month.

Oshoala, who was stripped off her captaincy in April believes the performance of other teams on the continent is fast rising.

"I feel really confident about our team [but] we also know that right now it's more competitive," the Barcelona Femeni star told the BBC World Service.

"The qualification was really tough. We had to go through Ghana and Ivory Coast to get to the tournament and now we see the best from each side in Africa.

"You have teams in Africa growing. We lost to South Africa in a friendly game and we couldn't even beat some teams like Mali - we struggled to beat them.

"So it just shows that it's not going to be easy to win. It used to be for us before."

The Super Falcons are the most successful women's team on the African continent, winning the AWCON by a record nine times.

The Falcons have also won the last three editions of the AWCON.

Oshoala returns to the Super Falcons after missing the team's double-header friendly against Olympic champions Canada in April.
