Paul Onuachu is relishing his four-goal heroics in Genk’s 4-1 victory over Sporting Charleroi in the Belgian top-tier game played on Friday and is aiming to become the league’s top scorer again, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

His goalscoring form against Charleroi saw him match Wesley Sonck’s feat set against Excelsior 19 years ago.

The Super Eagle striker scored his first goal from the penalty spot after just nine minutes.

He then got his second of the game in the 35th minute after poking in from a Mike Tresor assist.

It was a strike that ensured his team went to the half-time break with a massive advantage.

With 20 minutes to go, the 28-year-old completed his hat-trick after converting a Joseph Paintsil pass. His fourth goal came in stoppage time after good work by Rasmus Carstensen.

His goals took his tally to 12 in 12 league games this season.

Speaking with Eleven Sports, the Nigerian striker said, “We are the only ones who can stop ourselves now. As long as the mentality remains, the sky is the limit.”

“Its a dream for me, I hope to finish top again. I haven’t changed the way I play. The goals keep coming and I keep working. These goals are the result of my hard work in training.”

The win also saw Genk set a new club record of nine straight wins and they are now 10 points ahead of second place Antwerp.

They face Westerlo waits in the Belgian cup this Wednesday before taking on Anderlecht on Sunday.

The Nigerian also praised Tresor for his assists in the game.

“He’s a fantastic player,” he continued.

“I just have to raise my hand and then he gives me the ball where I want. It’s great to have someone like that as a teammate,” Onuachu told Eleven.
