On-loan Chelsea midfielder opens up on relationship with Terem Moffi

Lorient midfielder Trevor Chalobah has revealed he does not only share the same dressing room and pitch with striking sensation Terem Moffi but also shares the same living apartment.

On loan from English giants Chelsea, Chalobah is looking to make it to the next level at one of the top five leagues in Europe after spells at lower division sides like Ipswich Town and Huddersfield Town.

A lengthy rough patch at the first half of the season left Lorient struggling at the tail end of the Ligue 1 table.

But better tactical organisation and teamwork coupled with Moffi’s brilliant finishes have lifted Christophe Pélissier’s side out of the relegation zone and closer to safety.

Despite being deployed as a defender and defensive midfielder, Chalobah also contributed the opening goal in the 3-2 victory over Dijon in January.

And the former English Youth Cup winner says living with and sharing goalscoring tips with Moffi helps him sharpen his attacking instincts.

“I’m living with him,” Chalobah told Ligue 1. “I drive him to training and that, and we’re always talking about scoring, and I’ve been telling him for quite a while now that the goal was needed, and obviously, you could see how happy he was for me as well.”

Moffi’s exploits in the French top-flight have catapulted him to the consciousness of Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr.

Rohr named the youngster to the Super Eagles standby list for the games against the Benin Republic and Lesotho last month.
