Former Super Eagles head coach Sunday Oliseh has voiced his displeasure to the appointment of foreign coaches for Nigeria’s senior men’s national team.
The 50-year-old, who led the Super Eagles between 2015 and 2016, believes Nigeria has qualified indigenous coaches capable of managing the team.
The former Super Eagles captain shared his thoughts in an exclusive interview with Channels Sports on Sunday, June 15.
"I am totally against that role not being handed over to a Nigerian because we have qualified Nigerians who can do that job," Oliseh stated.
His comments come in response to the appointment of Eric Chelle as Super Eagles head coach in January.
The 47-year-old Malian tactician replaced Finidi George, who stepped down as head coach of the three-time African champions in June 2024.
Chelle remains unbeaten after five matches with the Super Eagles, recording three wins and two draws.
