Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye could face a potential ban from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) if it turns out that he intentionally skipped the Eagles last six outings.

The 22-year-old shot-stopper last featured for the Eagles at the 2021 AFCON in January, when his blunder proved costly in Nigeria's 1-0 defeat to Tunisia.

Okoye was largely targeted by some section of Nigerian fans and the media following the Super Eagles exit from the tournament.

He missed Nigeria's World Cup qualifying double-header against Ghana in March due to coronavirus.

The former Sparta Rotterdam shot-stopper also pulled out of the Super Eagles 30-man squad named by Jose Peseiro for the two friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador in the United States.

Okoye has been spotted at Watford's pre-season camp which creates the impression that the German-born Nigerian shunned the national team on purpose.
