English club, Manchester United, have announced that they have reached an agreement with Shanghai Shenhua to extend the contract of Nigerian striker, Odion Ighalo until 2021.

Recall that Ighalo's previous loan contract ran out on Sunday evening and both clubs failed to reach an agreement before the deadline.

The club's announcement on its official website reads: "Manchester United have reached agreement with Shanghai Greenland Shenhua to extend the loan deal for Odion Ighalo.

"The Nigerian striker's stay was initially due to end on 31 May but he will now remain with the Reds until 31 January 2021, enabling him to build on an impressive start to life with the club he supported as a boy.

"Ighalo's tally of four goals in eight appearances so far includes at least one strike in each of his three starts - against Club Brugge, Derby County (2) and LASK."

It's a wish come true for manager Ole Gunnar SOlskjaer, who commented last week that he wished Ighalo completed what he started at Old Trafford.

"They [Shanghai Greenland Shenhua] have been great towards us, allowing him to play for his dream club. It’s been a dream for him and hopefully he can finish what he started and win a trophy with us," Ole said.

The Premier League is set to restart on June 17 and Solskjaer should have a fully-fit squad at his disposal with long-term absentees Rashford and Paul Pogba both completing their recovery during lockdown.

“Everyone’s looking sharp, everyone’s been in with a good mood and we’ve been splitting up in groups, so [working in] fours and fives together, and they’ve really done well. So far it’s been good,” Solskjaer told MUTV about the players returning to training.
