Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has described his reception in Ghana as something to savour for a lifetime.

The ex-French international arrived in the West African country on Monday as part of his promotional tour for his autobiography titled ‘I Love This Game’.

Evra, who had already visited Nigeria and Senegal hailed the Ghanaian people for the warm reception he received after touching down at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra.

The 41-year-old added that he has been to Nigeria and Senegal, but the Ghanaian reception is the best he has received so far on his tour.

“It’s crazy. I didn’t expect this kind of warm reception from all the Ghanaian people,” the former Juventus left-back said.

“It’s my first time in Ghana and I’ll remember that all my life. I love this game. I already feel the love. I’ve been to Nigeria and Senegal and I can tell you this is the best welcome. The next thing to try is the Ghana Jollof.”

The friendly rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana cuts across different aspects of life including sports, entertainment, and food.

In football, these two West African countries always engage in banter on who is the best football nation.

Again, the argument on which country prepares the best jollof rice always comes up for debate.
