Former Nigerian international Dimeji Lawal has urged Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle to call up the best players for the upcoming World Cup playoffs.
Nigeria will face Gabon in a crucial semi-final playoff clash in Morocco on Thursday, November 13.
The winner of the tie will meet either Cameroon or DR Congo in the final CAF playoff match three days later.
Chelle’s side will look to build on the momentum from their 4–0 thrashing of Benin Republic in their last group qualifier.
Speaking in a chat with Complete Sports, Lawal stated that the Super Eagles boss must invite players who understand the enormity of the task ahead.
“The Super Eagles head coach must make the right decision at this stage by inviting players who are prepared to give their utmost effort to help Nigeria qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
“There is no room for errors. He must invite players who understand the task at hand because they must not jeopardize this second chance to qualify for the World Cup.
“Gabon are a good team, but the Super Eagles remain the best.”
