Enyimba FC and former Super Eagles player, Brown Ideye, has said the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) is getting worse.
Speaking after Enyimba lost 2 -0 away at Kwara United, Ideye stated that the league has a long way to go to achieve improvement.
He said, "The system is getting worse, the league is not getting better. We have a long way to go.
"For me, I feel like my time with Enyimba has been wonderful but many things in the league have to improve."
He also criticized the poor state of the necessities that players in the league are supposed to enjoy.
He said, "In terms of travel, food and hotel accommodation, and how the players relax, it is bad."
Enyimba recently crashed out of this season's CAF Confederation Cup after losing 3-1 to Zamalek.
Reacting, Ideye said, "Nigerians are not ready for continental football. I feel we should put our house together before going for continental football instead of going there to disgrace ourselves."
Ideye enjoyed a successful career player abroad for West Brom, Olympiacos and Dynamo Kyiv.
He joined Enyimba in December 2004 after being a free agent since calling it quit with Kuwait side Al Yarmouk in 2022.
