Head coach of Niger Tornadoes, Abubakar Bala has said he is bent on building a competitive team that will ensure his side competes in the NPFL next season.

This follows a convincing 2-0 win against CAF Champions League representative, Plateau United over the weekend.

He believes the victory places his side in pole position to compete amongst the elites.

“We are 70% ready for the new season. We should be able to dominate our opponents as well. I hope to build a formidable team.”

“Our training sessions are focused on achieving that. We want to send the signal out that Niger Tornadoes is a mature team. Moreover, we want to build an unbeatable side," he told Brila.net.

Goals from Sani Mohammed and Peter Momoh helped Tornadoes beat Plateau United at the Mohammodu Dikko Stadium on Sunday.

“Our first match wasn’t a disappointment. We gave a good account of ourselves against Katsina United,” Abubakar Bala recalled.

“We went back to work on our lapses. The essence of pre-season is to build the team, work on any mistakes, and strive to improve.”

“The match was against a different team, different style of play and quality. That’s why we changed our style of play to 4-2-2-2 and the result was achieved.

“We created three chances and converted two them. Kudos to the boys for the quality displayed.

“We hope to consolidate and try to qualify from the group,” he concluded.
