Member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical Committee, Victor Ikpeba has confirmed that the Executive Committee of the federation is set to appoint a new Super Eagles head coach in the next few days.

The NFF has been on a man hunt for the next Super Eagles gaffer for some weeks now following the resignation of Augustine Eguavoen and the dismissal of his technical team following the FIFA World Cup fiasco.

Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, Ikpeba confirmed that former FC Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde, Laurent Blanc, Jose Peseiro and Philip Cocu are the four names shortlisted for the vacant role.

'' We have about six, seven foreign managers who have applied, the names are all out but some of them were not mentioned’’ the NFF official said.

’’ We looked at their profile and decided on three, four foreign managers we take to the Executive Committee of the NFF board to decide’’

’’ Ernest Valverde, Laurent Blanc, Philip Cocu and Jose Peseiro applied for the Super Eagles job and based on their profile they were shortlisted’’ he concluded.

Gernot Rohr was the last man to manage the Super Eagles on a permanent basis.

The 68-year-old was shown the exit in November 2021 with just two months to the AFCON.

Augustine Eguavoen was brought in on an interim basis but resigned after the AFCON and World Cup failure.
