The 22nd edition of the Commonwealth Games ended on Monday, August 8 with Team Nigeria finishing in 7th place on the medal table with 35 medals.

Nigeria produced its best performance at the games winning 12 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 14 bronze medals.

Aside from the medals, Team Nigeria broke some records in some athletic events.

Here are three records that were smashed by Nigerian athletes at the games in the athletic and para-athletics events category.

Tobi Amusan- 12.30s

The world record holder replicated another feat at the just-ended Commonwealth Games.

The 25-year-old won a gold medal in the women's 100m hurdles event with a Game record of 12.30s.

Amusan became the first and only Nigerian athlete to be crowned an African Champion, World Athletics Champion, and Commonwealth Champion.

Amusan, Favor, Ofili and Chukwuma- 42.10s

In the women's 400x100m relay event, the quartet of Tobi Amusan, Favor Ofili, and Rosemary Chukwuma won gold for Nigeria with a new games record.

The relay team clocked 42.10s to set a new record.

Ese Brume- 7.00m

Ese Brume won gold in the finals of the women's long jump event.

She leaped 7.00m to set the Game's new record and also to win Nigeria's last gold medal on Sunday, August 7.
