Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen has been handed the role of first-choice penalty taker for the club.

The 23-year-old takes over from Lorenzo Insigne who has left the club to join MLS side Toronto FC.

Osimhen scored his first spot kick for Napoli in a friendly against Spanish club Mallorca on Sunday, July 31.

The Nigerian international scored the opener inside just eight minutes after the referee awarded Spalletti's side a penalty following a handball incident in the opposition box.

The Super Eagles striker stepped up to the plate and converted the spot kick in a cool, calm, and collected fashion.

The new role may not necessarily be new for Osimhen. He scored 6 out of 8 spot kicks at his former club Lille before joining the Naples-based side in 2020.

Osimhen was Napoli's top scorer last season. He netted 18 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions for the Serie A giants.

The Nigerian international has so far managed 28 goals and 9 assists in 62 appearances for Napoli across all competitions since joining the club in the summer of 2020.
