Danish champions, FC Copenhagen have joined the race to sign Genk forward Cyriel Dessers from KRC Genk.
Dessers as per a recent report is closing in on a move to newly promoted Serie A side Cremonese but it appears the Danish outfit wants to hijack the deal making the chase to land the 27-year-old's signature keener.
According to widespread reports, Dessers met with the manager of FC Copenhagen, Jess Thorup, and the club's Sporting Director, Peter Christiansen on Tuesday in Denmark to engage in talks on a possible transfer.
Genk are willing to allow the Dutch-born Nigerian to leave this summer if his suitors can meet their financial demands.
Copenhagen are reportedly in search of a forward to lead their attack as the new season looms.
BT Sports journalist, Farzam Abolhosseini has also confirmed Copenhagan's interest in the ex-Utrecht FC forward even though the club is yet to make an official bid for him.
"Cyriel Dessers is clearly a name that FC Copenhagen is chasing, but no offer has been made by the club yet, he said in a tweet.
"At the same time, Italian suitors are lurking. Furthermore, Genk is far from satisfied with the image of the player in Copenhagen."
Dessers had a remarkable last season on his loan stint with Eredivisie side Feyenoord.
The Super Eagles forward netted 10 goals in the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League to emerge as the competition's top scorer.
