Messi and Joao Felix involved in spat as Barcelona lose to Atletico Madrid (VIDEO)

Lionel Messi got involved in a spat with Joao Felix during Barcelona's 3-2 loss to Atletico Madrid in Saudi Arabia on Thursday.

The duo had the spat right before half time when the scoreline was till 0-0.

It started when Jordi Alba body blocked Felix who reacted by engaging in a heated argument with the Barcelona defender.

Messi got involved in the heat when he jumped in to save Alba after he slapped Felix with his finger.

This didn't go down well with Felix who confronted Messi before they were separated by Gerard Pique and Alvaro Morata.

The brief confrontation led to a free for all between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid players before it was later settled.

Koke opened scoring in the 46th minute which was equalized by Messi in the 51st.

Griezmann put Barcelona in lead before it was equalized by Morata from the spot. The winner came from Correa who helped Atletico seal a Super Cup final match against Real Madrid

Slamming his teammates for the silly errors they made, Messi said:

"It's a shame because we switched off for a few moments and made children's mistakes.

"We should have closed out the match.

"It's a blow for us, especially as we were the better team. Our mistakes cost us dearly."

Griezmann also expressed disappointment at Barcelona's performance on the night.

"They had more legs than us and in the end it cost us.

"We made mistakes in everything, in passes - I think I missed a pass to Sam (Umtiti) before they scored - and the little things can lose you a match, a league, a Champions League."
