Manchester United sack head coach Ruben Amorim

Manchester United have reportedly parted ways with head coach Ruben Amorim following a string of poor results.

The sacking of the Portuguese manager comes after the club's disappointing 1-1 draw away at Leeds United on Sunday, January 4.

The Red Devils have won just one of their last seven matches and are 17 points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal.

According to reports, the 40-year-old’s relationship with the club's hierarchy has broken down 14 months into the job at Old Trafford.

Former United midfielder Darren Fletcher is expected to take over the reins at the club on an interim basis before the club announces a new head coach on a substantive basis.

Former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez and recently sacked former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca have both been linked to the club.
