Manchester United: Dimitar Berbatov sends strong message to Solskjaer -

Former Manchester United striker, Dimitar Berbatov, has urged manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to avoid a repeat of last season’s terrible start at the club for the upcoming 2019/2020 campaign in the Premier League.

Man United won just ten points from their first seven games last term, making it their worst Premier League start in the club’s history.

Solskjaer’s side finished in sixth position on the Premier League table last campaign and also missed out of next season’s UEFA Champions League.

But Berbatov has now advised Solskjaer to “play the Manchester United way” in order to get off to the best possible start.

“Solskjaer is starting from the start with pre-season,” Berbatov told the Mirror.

“He has time to prepare. After that he has no excuses. He needs to start strong because if you don’t then you have all this negativity surrounding you.

“I am hopeful. Everybody who is connected to the club, all ex-players are going to be thinking this is the time for him to start playing the Man United way, better than last season. I want to see that, last season was disappointing.”

He added: “I hope there is no rash decision made because this is not the Man United way to change coaches every one or two years. We’re not going to see another 26 years in charge again, of course, but more time is needed.

“Not everyone is going to start the way they want. I remember sometimes we would start slowly but then things would pick up.

“So I hope, however he starts, he is given more time.”
