Man City have put up a strategy that will see them earn hugely from Lionel Messi if the Argentine star joins the Etihad outfit next summer, Daily Mail.

Attempts to land the 33-year-old when he officially submitted his transfer request back in the summer proved abortive.

But being the favourites to land the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, there are plans lined-up by City Football Group (CFG) to discuss an association with Messi for the next ten years.

It is understood that one of the steps that will be taken includes a multi-year contract to play for Pep Guardiola who recently signed a new deal with the Citizens.

Another option is the view to associate Messi with their other football clubs as MLS side New York City have already been tagged as his next destination after the Premier League.

The CFG ten have clubs scattered around China, India, Japan and Australia and reports claim Messi could also be given an ambassadorial role in the future with the oil-rich group.

It is understood that Messi's marketing prospects would turn City into one of the attractive clubs in world football.

City believe signing a long-term deal with Messi until his 40's would see them make massive revenue and create countless opportunities in foreign markets.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Lionel Messi will not be available for Tuesday's Champions League clash between Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv and Barcelona.

The 33-year-old played all 90 minutes during La Blaugrana's 1-0 loss to La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano.

According to Goal, Ronald Koeman has dropped their inspirational player for the trip to Kiev but did not state their reason for exempting Messi.
