Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye was handed his debut by Watford’s coach Rob Edwards in a League Cup tie with MK Dons on Tuesday, August 23.

It was however a debut to forget for the Nigerian shot-stopper as the Hornets crashed out of the Cup following a 2-0 home loss to Milton Keynes Dons.

Okoye was beaten for the first time in the 45th minute through Matthew Dennis.

The 20-year-old turned fired home a cross from Darragh Burns, with Okoye rooted to his goal.

MK Dons got their second after Burns’ 25-yard shot found its way into the back of the net in the 54th minute.

His national teammate William Troost-Ekong also featured in the tie, while Samuel Kalu was missing due to injury.
