Lookman turns the cornerstone at Atalanta after Everton, Fulham and Leipzig failure

Super Eagles striker Ademola Lookman is enjoying his career again after years of struggle with several clubs.

Lookman had a torrid time with Everton, RB Leipzig, Leicester and Fulham but is now one of the breakout stars in Italy with Atalanta.

The 25-year-old is the Serie A’s second top scorer, with nine goals and three assists in seventeen appearances this season.

He’s tied with Inter Milan’s Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup winner Lautaro Martinez and Spezia’s man MBala Nzola.

He is only behind fellow Nigerian Victor Osimhen, who has bagged 12 goals for Napoli.

The return of nine goals and three assists is his best return in front of goal in recent years, after scoring four for Fulham and eight for Leicester City.

The unsuccessful back-to-back loan spell at both Premier League Clubs forced RB Leipzig to sell him to Atalanta, where Lookman is now considered one of the best players in Europe.

Born in Wandsworth, Lookman joined Charlton’s academy at the age of 16 after starting out at Waterloo.

Lookman became part of the first team in 2015 and notched a total of 12 goals in 49 appearances.

The performance caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, but he decided to join Everton two years where his struggle began.

With the Toffees only four goals in 48 matches, including famous goal in 4-0 drubbing of Manchester City at Goodison Park.

Poor form led him to a loan stint at RB Leipzig in 2018 and his impressive performances convinced the Bundesliga giants to sign him on a permanent deal a year later.

But things never work out and he spent 2020 and 2021 with Fulham and Leicester respectively and that led to Leipzig selling him to Atalanta in the summer for just £15m.
