Former Lazio midfielder Dario Marcolin has tipped Nigerian international Ademola Lookman as a stronger signing for Napoli than AC Milan’s Rafael Leão.
Both Lookman and Leão are on the radar of Serie A champions Napoli as they prepare for a busy summer transfer window.
Napoli manager Antonio Conte is eager to bolster his squad with quality signings ahead of the 2025/2026 campaign, as part of their bid to defend the Scudetto and compete in Europe.
Speaking to Radio Marte during Marte Sport Live on Napoli's transfer plans, Marcolin, now a pundit for DAZN, stated that Lookman would be a better addition to the squad than Leão due to his versatility and decisiveness.
“Between Leão and Lookman, along with De Bruyne and Conte’s continued presence, I think both are realistic targets for Napoli. But if I had to choose between the two wingers, I’d go for Lookman,” the 53-year-old said.
“Leão is undoubtedly talented, and under Conte, he could achieve more consistency. However, Lookman offers greater versatility—he can play multiple roles, he’s decisive, provides that change of pace, excels in one-on-ones, has speed, and contributes more goals.”
Lookman, the reigning African Footballer of the Year, registered 20 goals and seven assists for Atalanta during the just-ended campaign.
Leão, on the other hand, managed 12 goals and 13 assists in 50 competitive matches for AC Milan.
