Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi has returned to his boyhood club Barcelona for the first time since leaving the Spanish giants in the summer of 2021.

The Argentine World Cup winner was spotted at the newly built Spotify Camp Nou Stadium, sparking rumours of a possible return to the Catalan club.

In a post on Instagram, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner wrote:

“Last night I returned to a place I miss with my soul.

A place where you guys made me feel a thousand times the happiest person in the world.

I hope one day I return, and not just to say goodbye as a player, as I never got to…”

The 38-year-old has also been linked with a loan move to Galatasaray.

The Turkish giants are proposing a four-month loan spell to help Messi maintain his fitness ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as the MLS season ends shortly.
