Ligue 1: Simon helps Nantes pick result at Auxerre; Innocent and Moffi star in Lorient victory

Super Eagles forward Moses Simon saw 64 minutes of action in Nantes’ 1-0 victory against Auxerre in their first game of 2023 at the Stade de la Beaujoire.

Super Eagles winger Simon got the nod to start for Nantes. The 27-year-old was expected to be Nantes’ main outlet, but he could not offer much.

Simon registered 14 accurate passes, three successful dribbles, and three crosses. However, he was taken out for Marcus Coco in the 64th minute.

Coco made his presence felt within ten minutes of his introduction, as he scored the winning goal for Nantes that ensured it ended 1-0.

The Yellow canaries now sit 14th in Ligue 1.

Meanwhile, at the Stade Raymond-Kopa, where Anger welcomed Lorient, Terem Moffi played the entire 90 minutes, while Innocent Bonke saw 60 minutes of action for Lorient.

Les Merlus had a good start to the season, and they were looking to keep the momentum in their first game of 2023 against Angers.

Unfortunately for them, Abdallah Sima opened the scoring very Anger in the 7th minute. Nonetheless, Les Merlus showed great character.

An own goal from Sima restored parity in the game. Then, Enzo Le Fee scored the winning goal for Lorient in the 22nd minute to ensure it ended 2-1 in favour of Les Merlus.

Innocent had a good game in midfield with 29 passes, two tackles, and two interceptions. His compatriot Moffi registered 9 passesand one shot on target.

The win places Lorient in 6th place on the Ligue 1 log.
