Captain of Liberia's national football team, Marcus Macauley has said the lads will learn from the 2-0 defeat to the Super Eagles as they prepare to wrap up their qualifying campaign against the Central African Republic.

The Lone Stars' hope of making it for the final round of qualifying games was mathematically over after the defeat on Saturday.

Liberia had a good outing against the Eagles but two errors from the goalkeeper proved costly.

Speaking ahead of their final game against the Central African Republic, Macauley said: “I must admit that Super Eagles have got fantastic players on their team,

“They have a really solid squad. The defeat is somehow discouraging because our dream is over, but it’s a lesson for us.

“We lost to the Nigerian national team, a good side and I’m sure we will take the positives with us and improve on them.”

“We are still in a learning and rebuilding process just like our coach said earlier on. We are improving, though as I can say that so many positive things are happening to our team which we need to sustain,” he said.

Liberia can finish the campaign in the third position, but only if they beat the Wild Beasts on Tuesday.
