Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has urged Yan Diomande to focus on improving his game following his side’s victory over Sevilla in La Liga.
The Ivorian international scored and provided an assist as Los Blancos thumped Sevilla 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday, October 18.
The 19-year-old teed up Arda Güler for the opener on the half-hour mark before scoring Madrid’s fourth goal of the night with eight minutes left to play.
It was Diomande’s second goal of the season since his big-money move from RB Leipzig in the summer.
Speaking after the match, Mourinho stated that the teenager is not a finished article.
“He still has a lot to learn and several areas of his game to improve, especially his finishing,” Mourinho said.
“He gets into dangerous positions very often, but he needs to learn to stay calmer and make better decisions with his final touch... He reminds me of a young Vinícius Jr.”
