Kano Pillars FC have declared their goalkeeper, Emeka Onyia, absent without official leave (AWOL).

According to a terse statement issued by the club, Onyia had been absent since March 2025.

The club also revealed that they have not been able to communicate with him since he left.

The statement read, "Kano Pillars FC wishes to inform the general public, our esteemed supporters, and all stakeholders that our goalkeeper, Emeka Onyia, has been Absent Without Official Leave (AWOL) from the team since March 2025.

"Despite several efforts by the club Management and Technical crew to reach out to him through various channels, there has been no communication or response from Emeka Onyia.

"He has failed to report to training and has remained completely absent from the club's camp without any formal notification or justification.

"This conduct is a clear violation of the club's professional code of conduct and disciplinary framework.

"We remain committed to upholding discipline, professionalism, and integrity within the team as we continue preparations for our final game of the season coming up this weekend."
