Juventus are pushing forward with plans to sign Nigeria international Ademola Lookman and are reportedly preparing a player-plus-cash offer in a bid to convince Atalanta to sanction the deal, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

According to Italian outlet Calcio Atalanta, the Turin giants are determined to add Lookman to their ranks this summer after identifying him as a key attacking piece for manager Igor Tudor.

The club is considering including Argentine winger Nico González in the deal, along with €20m in cash, to meet Atalanta’s valuation of the Nigerian forward.

Juventus’ pursuit comes amid competition from Napoli, who have also been linked with the 26-year-old.

However, Atalanta are standing firm on their €60m asking price, a figure Napoli reportedly offered €50m for but have yet to match.

Calcio Atalanta explained Juventus’ stance, noting that, “Lookman is no longer coveted only by Naples, Juve now also wants to be serious.”

The report further stated that Juventus believe he could thrive in Tudor’s 3-4-2-1 system, offering goals, creativity and positional flexibility.

“After the Koopmeiners affair, they are sure they can also close for Lookman. The Juventus leadership wants to give the fantasist to Igor Tudor since in 3-4-2-1 he could play more roles and bring many goals and assists to Juve.”

“The Bergamo evaluate the Nigerian €60m, the figure already requested from Naples which is stopped at €50m. But the figure is too high for Juventus, which therefore estimates to insert a player courted by Atalanta into the deal.

“It’s about Nico Gonzalez and €30m spent on buying him from Fiorentina. Even more difficult for Atalanta to say goodbye to their Dublin hero at half the price, in exchange for a prospect that comes from a season that is anything but positive,” Calcio Atalanta added.

Napoli have also been widely reported to have been very keen on the African Footballer of the Year but are also not prepared to meet the full valuation, offering a player-plus-cash deal too, as De Laurentiis looks to reinforce Conte’s squad with another top talent following the recent signing of Kevin De Bruyne.

Amid this speculation in Italy, Lookman is also attracting interest from Premier League clubs and Barcelona have also been mooted as one of the sides targeting him, though the Catalans’ interest has died down in recent days after their reported agreement with Nico Williams.

Lookman has enjoyed a sensational spell in Bergamo, tallying 52 goals and 25 assists in 108 appearances across all competitions.
