Fenerbahçe manager José Mourinho has boldly claimed that his first Chelsea team is the greatest in Premier League history, surpassing even Arsène Wenger’s legendary Arsenal “Invincibles.”
The Portuguese tactician managed Chelsea from 2004 to 2006, following his UEFA Champions League triumph with FC Porto in 2004.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, Mourinho led the Blues to back-to-back Premier League titles and set multiple records.
Speaking on Canal 11, Mourinho argued that his Chelsea side outperformed Arsenal’s unbeaten 2003/04 campaign in terms of overall dominance.
“I think Chelsea was the best Premier League team ever,” Mourinho said.
“Arsenal were invincible, but they were invincible in one season. We were more invincible than them in two seasons.”
“They won 38 games, we won 46. But those 46 were spread across two seasons. They were a fantastic team.”
Mourinho’s Chelsea team, featuring stars like Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba, and John Terry, is widely regarded as one of the most formidable sides in English football history.
