Fenerbahce head coach Jose Mourinho was completely animated following his team's hard-fought 3-2 victory over Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig.

The veteran Portuguese tactician could not hide his frustration after a penalty call on Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel was ignored by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) late in the game.

Fenerbahce took the lead through former Manchester United midfielder Fred three minutes before the halftime break.

Trabzonspor staged a remarkable comeback to turn the scoreline on its head in the second half, leading 2-1 courtesy of two penalty goals from DR Congo's Simon Banza.

Veteran striker Edin Dzeko equalized for Fenerbahce with a quarter of an hour left to play before Sofyan Amrabat scored a dramatic late winner deep in stoppage time to secure a crucial win for Mourinho's men.

In a post-match reaction, the Special One expressed his frustration about how the VAR overlooked the challenge on Osayi-Samuel when the game was level at 2-2.

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss took a swipe at the VAR for their failure to review the incident.

“Isn’t it a red card on Bright?” Mourinho asked, as quoted by beIN Sports Turkiye.

“Karaoglan was what, drinking coffee at that time, didn’t see that red card for that player?”

The former AS Roma gaffer went ahead to label the Video Assistant Referee as the man of the match.

“The referee was just a little boy on the pitch, but the referee was Atilla Karaoglan, so man of the match,” he said. “He goes from the invisible man to the most important man in the match.”
