German DFL Pokal winner, Benjamin Henrichs, has picked Nigerian Afrobeats global superstar, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly called Burna Boy as his favourite Afroebeats artiste, Soccernet.ng reports.

Henrichs, who is still jubilant following his side’s thumping win over Bavarian giants, Bayern Munich, in the German Super Cup final, has voiced his preferred Afro-beats. The twenty-six-year-old German full-back has some African blood as well, as the maternal side of his family is from Ghana, while his dad is German.

Henrichs has said in previous times that he watched Ghana and Chelsea legend, Michael Essien while growing up, but he chose to play for the German National team, simply because they approached him early, during his teenage years, and since 2016, he has represented Die Mannschaft ten times.

Catching up with John Jackson, Henrichs mentioned the African Afrobeats artistes he listens to, picking the popular Nigerian trio; Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy. He particularly highlighted Burna to be his favourite from the talented trifecta. When quizzed about why Burna is his favourite, the 6-ft-tall fullback said;

“Burna boy, because he’s making good music.”

He went ahead to mention some of Burna Boy’s hit songs, even vibed to some of them, explaining the sensational effect the music of the Nigerian superstar has on him. Whilst fans have always been torn between the three parties, Henrichs enjoys listening to them all.

“You know on the low, It’s plenty. You know, it’s good vibes. Davido and Wizkid are also very good.”

Henrichs also sang to one of Davido’s songs in Fall.

Off the back of winning the German DFL Super Cup, Leipzig and Benjamin Henrichs will be in the front-seat for continental football at the end of the season, alongside Boniface’s Leverkusen and Karim Adeyemi’s Borussia Dortmund.
