'It hurts not playing in Qatar' — Etebo

Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo has described Nigeria's failure to qualify for the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar as a painful experience.

Nigeria failed to make their seventh appearance at the World Cup final after losing the ticket to arch-rivals Ghana in the double-header playoffs in March.

Etebo,27, who featured for the Super Eagles at the last edition of the World Cup in Russia is confident that the Super Eagles will make their return to the biggest football competition at the next edition.

“I have had good memories, was at the last edition in Russia and I had hopes of playing in Qatar, but it was not meant to be,” Etebo said.

“It hurts not playing in Qatar but as a team, we will ensure we qualify for the next edition,” He concluded.

The Aris FC midfielder has managed 3 goals for the Super Eagles in 45 caps.
