Nigeria's U-17 Women's team, Flamingos have beaten the United States of America 4-3 in the shootouts to qualify for the semi-final of the FIFA World Cup in India.
The delayed match, which was held at the DY Patil Stadium on Friday, October 21 ended in a one-all stalemate after 90 minutes of regulation time.
Nigerian defender Edafe put Flamingos ahead from the spot in the 27th minute after a VAR check.
Amalia Villarreal equalized for the US in the 40th minute through a well-taken strike that bounced off a Nigerian defender.
After a goalless second half, the game progressed to the lottery of penalty shootouts.
Coach Olowookere Bankole's girls edged out the US who were tipped as favourites 5-4 in the penalties courtesy of Edafe final kick.
