Super Eagles stars Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho endured a frustrating night on the pitch with Leicester City as the Premier League makes a return after the World Cup break.

Leicester were beaten 3-0 at the King Power stadium, with Ndidi and Ihenacho starting the game from the bench.

Brendan Rodgers’ side started the game poorly and deservedly went into the break trailing, with Miguel Almiron, Joelinton and Chris Wood scoring for the Magpies.

Rodgers responded by bringing on Iheanacho for Harvey Barnes and Ndidi for Soumare, but the changes yielded no result as the visitors maintained their advantage until the final whistle.

Defeat for Leicester ends their four-game winning run in all competitions as they remain 13th on the table, while Newcastle United moved in to second place.

Both sides will meet again in the League Cup next month.
