Iheanacho, Ndidi out to help Leicester City reach first FA final in 52 years

Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred will be aiming to help Leicester City reach the FA Cup final when they lock horns with Southampton on Sunday.

Leicester City last reached the final of the oldest football competition in 1969 when they lost to Manchester City courtesy of Neil Young’s lone strike in the 24th minute.

Fifty-Two years after the painful defeat, the Foxes are now favorites reached another final at the expense of struggling Saints.

The club will be banking on Iheanacho who was the hero in the 3-1 quarter-final victory over Manchester United at King Power Stadium last month.

Iheanacho scored two goals in that game and also notched a brace against West Ham United last Sunday to take his tally to 14 in 30 appearances so far this season.

Also, Iheanacho has netted 13 times in FA Cup18 appearances, the highest number of goals scored by any African in the history of the competition.

Speaking ahead of the game, Iheanacho hinted that the squad has to show a lot of determination to go through to the final.

“Right now there are big weeks in the FA Cup and Premier League so just need that concentration and determination to win games, and get to where we want at the end of the season then after that we can now enjoy the moment,” he told LCFC TV on Friday ahead of the Sunday’s game.

Meanwhile his international teammate, Wilfred Ndidi is also expected to be at his best for the match.
