Ighalo’s Al-Hilal tops Asian Champions League group despite defeat

Super Eagles forward, Idion Ighalo’s Al-Hilal lost by 2-0 to Al Rayyan in the Asian Champions League final round of group stage matches.

Ighalo and his side couldn’t capitalize on home advantage as they lost to the Qatar-based club at the Prince Faisal Fahd stadium on Wednesday.

Despite the defeat, Al-Hilal finished at the summit of group A with thirteen points plus a superior goal difference of six.

Their opponents, Al Rayyan finished in second place with the same points but with an inferior goal difference of three.

Al-Hilal will face UAE’s Shabab Al-Ahli in the round of 16.
