Ighalo's Al Hilal lost FIFA World Club Cup to Real Madrid

Odion Ighalo was given cameo appearance in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup final between his side Al Hilal and Real Madrid at the Stade Moulay Abdellah on Saturday.

Ighalo was expectedly dropped from the starting IX following poor run of form, as Coach Ramon Diaz picked semi-final hero Luciano Vietto to pair Moussa Marega up front.

The decision was justified as Vietto scored twice, with Marega scoring the other, although it was not enough on the night as Real Madrid ran out 5-3 winners.

Ighalo was introduced in the final three minutes and had no touch before the final whistle sounded.

Real Madrid have now lifted the Club World Cup for a record extending fifth time, while Al Hilal missed the chance to become the first Asian side to win the tournament.

Real Madrid’s victory in Rabat secured their second piece of silverware of the season, after winning the European Super Cup in August.
