'I will pick Jay-Jay Okocha' - Awoniyi names Okocha as the African player he would love to play with

Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has named ex-Nigerian legend Jay-Jay Okocha as a player he would have loved to share the pitch with.

The 25-year-old was asked to name an African player he would wish to play with in the Premier League, in response the ex-Liverpool man mentioned the legendary Okocha.

Ex-Super Eagles captain, Okocha featured for Bolton Wanderers in the English topflight from 2002 to 2006 where he became a household name at the Reebok Stadium.

The Bolton fans fell in love with him for his dazzling displays and dribbling prowess.

He scored 14 goals in 124 appearances for the Trotters.

Awoniyi, who recently moved to the Premier League this summer from Union Berlin in the German Bundesliga has revealed his admiration for the dribbling magician.

He disclosed that he watched videos of the ex-PSG star on YouTube citing Okocha's goal against Oliver Khan in 1996.

The Super Eagles striker believes that Okocha is one of the best players the world has ever seen.

"For sure I will pick Jay-Jay Okocha, had it been that he was still able to play. He is one of the best players in the world for me," Awoniyi said as quoted by Sports Brief.

"I watched his clips on YouTube and when I was in Germany, they showed me the goals he scored in Germany against Oliver Kahn I think. And of course, everyone knows Jay-Jay Okocha in Nigeria."

Awoniyi scored Nottingham Forest’s first PL goal in over 23 years on their return to the English topflight.
