I will not bring in new players - Peseiro

Jose Peseiro Jose Peseiro

Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro has poured cold water on the idea of inviting new players to the National team.

The 62-year-old Portuguese gaffer insists the current invitees to the Super Eagles are the best the country has.

“The players in the team at the moment are the best we have. I have watched a lot of videos and what they need to understand is our ideas and philosophy,” the Portuguese trainer said.

The former Sporting Lisbon manager is however open to the idea of introducing new players who are performing better in their roles to the team.

“New players spring up every day in Nigeria but we have the best now. Okay, if I see a new player who is doing better than the player in his position. I will give him time little by little to help me understand our idea which is what we want to do more at the moment and not bring in new players.”

The 62-year-old has guided the Super Eagles to victory in their initial two AFCON qualifier matches.

Nigeria beat Sierra Leone by 2-1 at the national stadium in Abuja. They also thumped Sao Tome and Principe by 10-0 at the Stade de Adrar stadium in Agadir Morocco.

The Eagles will return to action in September in a double-header against Guinea-Bissau.
