I want to win league title before quitting Belgium — Onuachu

Paul Onuachu has warned Racing Genk that the Jupiler Pro League title race isn’t over.

Genk held a seven-point lead on top of the table ahead of Sunday’s meeting with rivals Club Brugge.

“Of course we are chasing the title,” Paul Onuachu told Sporza ahead of the crunch battle.

“But we do realize that anything can still happen. 7 points ahead of Union Saint-Gilloise that could soon be reversed in the play-offs.”

Genk beat Club 3-1 to open a 15 points gap ahead of their rivals, who themselves just employed former Bournemouth coach, Scott Parker to thinker the squad.

Club Brugge won the first meeting earlier this season, and Onuachu believes they aren’t out of the race just yet.

“It is one of the most important matches of the year. A lot can be decided if we win. Nevertheless, Club already showed that they can fight back from a lost position.”

The lanky forward also expressed his desire to win the league crown before quitting Belgium.

“I want to leave here as a champion. Look, if a big league comes knocking after this season, I definitely want to try something different.” He concluded.

Onuachu now has 14 goals in 16 league matches this season.
