I want to become the best in the world. My dream is to win the WTA and Grand Slams and I’m sure my sister wants to do the same,” 12-year-old Nene Yakubu told PUNCH Sports Extra.

According to their mother and mentor, Olajumoke Yakubu, the girls started playing tennis at a very tender age. Nene took up tennis at age seven while her elder sister was six when she began playing tennis.

“Our prayer is to see them become the biggest tennis players in the country and the world someday. Ours is to put them through and train them at the right age and I think they have an advantage having started playing at a young age.

“The girls themselves want to play to the level of the WTA and they want to win grand slams. Your position as a parent is to introduce the child but in the long run, it is the child that will decide their future. Their dream is to win grand slams.”Much is expected from Nene and sister Oiza and the Yakubu sisters are not relenting in their dreams of becoming world-beaters.
