Manchester United have been linked with Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo who could be leaving the Italian club as they are looking to get him off their wage bill.

The Portuguese star is paid £28 million yearly at the Turin club which shows he earns more than five times what Paulo Dybala gets as the second highest earner.

Juventus officials can't wait to get that huge amount off their wage bill in a bid to remain in business beyond this term and Ronaldo could be heading back to the Premier League.

CR7 spent six seasons at the Old Trafford outfit playing alongside Solskjaer, Paul Scholes and Roy Keane before leaving to join Spanish giants Real Madrid in 2009.

And according to United manager Solskjaer, he is a fan of the Juventus striker.

“Don't forget I played with Cristiano and he's the best player in the world - so I wouldn't mind having him in my team too."

The United boss also stated that he is still in touch with the 35-year-old and recall that Solskjaer admitted in January that he sought the opinion of Cristiano before signing Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon.

He told High Performance Podcast, as cited in Mirror:

"We've got the chief scouts who do all the scouting, we've got the analysts who analyse and break everything down to a minutest detail."But you can see that with your eye really what talent and quality you've got. Then you speak to team-mates, who maybe play with them in the national team."So obviously Cristiano was an easy goal for me."I managed to get through to Patrice Evra, I managed to get hold of Cristiano and his recommendation obviously stands him (Fernandes) in good stead."Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Cristiano Ronaldo has come under scrutiny from fans for failing to mark an opponent during Juventus 4-1 win over Ferencvaros in the Champions League, Sport Bible.

His rival Lionel Messi was also slammed for not pressing forward when Dynamo Kiev tars had the ball in their possession.

Messi was seen strolling a few minutes before the end of the game without actively being involved with trying to win possession for Barcelona.
