Super Eagles star Samuel Chukwueze has embraced his new role under manager Ruben Amorim following his impressive performance for AC Milan in their Serie A opener against Torino on Sunday, August 23.
Despite being deployed as a wing-back, the 27-year-old put in a stellar performance to help the Rossoneri secure a 2-1 victory over Torino at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.
Chukwueze provided the assist for AC Milan's second goal, scored by Adrien Rabiot, after Alphadjo Cisse had given Milan the lead in the 64th minute.
Che Adams later reduced the deficit for Torino in stoppage time, but it wasn't enough for the home side as Milan held on for a 2-1 victory.
Chukwueze also created the most chances in the game (four) and had the most touches in the opposition box (nine), with these impressive stats earning him the Man of the Match accolade.
Speaking about his new role under Amorim, the former Fulham man said:
“I’m ready, it’s my job, I’ll give it my all,” Chukwueze told DAZN.
“I’m happy to be back like this, it gives me confidence,” he added.
“I wanted to start the season like this, I’m happy.
“But now that’s already in the past, let’s focus on the next one.”
Chukwueze will hope to maintain his impressive form when Milan take on Venezia in their next league fixture.
