'I know I’m being looked at by Nigeria' — Werder Bremen star reveals conditions for playing with the Super Eagles

Werder Bremen forward Justin Njinmah has revealed that he is aware of being monitored by Nigeria.

The 23-year-old former Borussia Dortmund star is among the many players of Nigerian descent in the diaspora.

The right winger, who made 24 Bundesliga appearances last season, scoring six goals and providing two assists, disclosed that his personal goal is to play for the Germany national team.

Njinmah expressed disappointment at not making the Die Mannschaft squad for the recently hosted 2024 European Championship.

“It was relatively clear to me that I had no chance. Nevertheless, I know that they have had me on their radar. I am aware they have watched me several times. Although there has been no direct communication with someone from the German team yet, it remains a significant goal of mine, which I hope to achieve. Marvin Ducksch has demonstrated that performance can be rewarded and that sometimes one or two extraordinarily good seasons are enough to be noticed,” the 23-year-old said, according to Fussball Transfers.

Regarding the possibility of playing for the Super Eagles, Njinmah stated that he would only consider this option after receiving an invitation to the national team.

“I know I’m being looked at by Nigeria, but I can only make a decision once I receive an invitation. Then I would have to weigh my options carefully,” the versatile forward added.

Reports suggest that the Nigeria-eligible player is also on the radar of Premier League clubs such as Wolves and Everton.
