Serie A outfit, Hellas Verona have been slapped with a €12,000 fine following their racist comments against Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen on Monday, August 15.

Napoli got their 2022/2023 Serie A campaign off to a blistering start with a 5-2 defeat away at Hellas Verona.

Osimhen scored Napoli's second goal on the stroke of half-time to give his side a 2-1 lead before the break.

The 23-year-old also assisted Matteo Politano's fifth to wrap up a comprehensive victory for Luciano Spalletti's side.

Despite the incredible display on the night, it was Osimhen's goal celebration that became the major talking point after the game.

It was later revealed that some fans of the home team racially abused Africa's most expensive player.

The Serie A disciplinary committee has acted swiftly by slapping a fine of €12,000 on Hellas Verona as per el grafico.

Racism is not new in Italian football as many African stars who ply their trade in Serie A have suffered such abuses.
