He's strong and fast - Super Eagles striker names PSG's Kimpembe as his worst nightmare

Kimpembe Kimpembe

Six-time Ligue 1 winner Kimpembe was a member of the French squad that won the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the 2021 UEFA Nations League

Super Eagles forward Teremas ‘Terem’ Moffi has pointed at Paris St Germain centre-back Presnel Kimpembe as the one defender he does not enjoy playing against.

Moffi has featured several times for FC Lorient against PSG since joining Les Merlus in October 2020.

The Nigeria international has scored twice against the Parisians. Moffi’s first goal against the reigning French champions was a 91st-minute winner in a 3-2 home triumph in January 2021.

The former Kortrijk man also netted the consolation goal in Lorient’s 5-1 defeat at the Parc des Princes this April.

French international Kimpembe featured in both matches.

Still, Moffi is convinced that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is the best defender he has faced in Ligue 1.

“I don’t like facing Kimpembe at all,” Moffi said in an interview with So Foot.

“He’s strong, fast… It’s always hard to play against him!”

More to come from Moffi?
Moffi scored 14 goals in his debut season at Lorient and managed only eight in over 30 games last term.

The 23-year-old has already netted six goals in only nine matches this campaign.

And Moffi admits that defenders in the French top-flight focus on him more than in his debut season.

Moffi added: “Since last year, I know that they pay more attention to me. It’s the same this season. When you score a lot of goals, you get attention, and everyone has to be ready for you.”

Moffi is, however, not worried by the extra attention.

The Nigeria international is convinced that he is an excellent footballer and that defenders will have trouble dealing with him.

“There are times when you sit back and look at what you’ve accomplished as a human being,” Moffi continued.

“And that’s how I realized: Yes, I’m a very good player. I think I came to that conclusion last year. I sat down, I watched my videos, I saw the comments from journalists, sports analysts too, and I said to myself: “Okay, I’m a pretty good footballer.” And a lot of people also told me that I was very good. It’s something I recorded.”

Only Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Junior, with eight goals each, have found the back of the net more than Moffi in Ligue 1.
