Barcelona legend Andrés Iniesta has urged the club to sign Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen this summer.

The Catalan giants are currently in the market for a competent centre-forward to replace legendary Polish striker Robert Lewandowski.

Lewandowski, 37, left Camp Nou at the end of the season following the expiration of his contract.

The former Bayern Munich striker has joined Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer (MLS).

The La Liga champions are currently pursuing Atlético Madrid's Julián Álvarez as their primary target for the number nine role.

However, the Rojiblancos have refused to enter into negotiations with their La Liga rivals over the Argentine international.

Ferran Torres, who is the only recognised centre-forward left in Hansi Flick's squad, has also been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Speaking in an interview with NTV Spor, the 2010 FIFA World Cup winner urged his former teammate, Deco, Barcelona's sporting director, to pursue Osimhen should Ferran Torres leave.

“Lamine Yamal is a fantastic player, but I wouldn’t prefer him playing as a number nine. If Ferran Torres leaves, I would strongly advise Deco to sign a striker.

“I don’t think Atlético Madrid will let Julián Álvarez go. I would suggest they sign Victor Osimhen. He’s a fantastic goalscorer and one of the best replacements for Robert Lewandowski.”
