John Mikel Obi has urged Chelsea to sign Benfica's goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin this summer.

The former Chelsea midfielder believes Enzo Maresca's side need the Ukrainian international ahead of the new season.

Despite Kepa Arrizabalaga's recent move to Arsenal, the Blues still have four goalkeepers on their books.

The performances of Robert Sánchez and Filip Jørgensen have not been up to scratch, as the Blues are in the market for a top-quality goalkeeper.

Speaking following Chelsea's 4–1 victory over Benfica in the round of 16 of the FIFA Club World Cup, Mikel Obi urged the club to sign Trubin ahead of next season.

“We talked about him before the game. He has had a brilliant tournament so far.

I still think we [Chelsea] need to get Trubin,” he stated.
