City legend recommends Dennis for Villa

Manchester City legend Richard Dunne is confident that Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Dennis will be a great addition to Aston Villa going into next season.

Watford have been relegated to the Championship following their disappointing campaign where they only garnered 23 points and finished 19th on the Premier League standings.

The club also sacked two managers, Xisco and Claudio Ranieri during the campaign in a bid to turn their fortunes around.

Despite their disappointing campaign, the Nigerian international who joined the club from Club Brugge scored the most goals (10) for The Hornets in the Premier League.

He also registered 6 assists in the process.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Vicarage road, with Aston Villa reported to be interested in landing the signature of the Nigerian international.

Dunne who played for the Cityzens for over a decade believes that Dennis and James Tarkowski of Burnley will be crucial to teams with similar pedigree to Aston Villa's.

“I’m sure clubs will start looking at Tarkowski from Burnley and Dennis from Watford now they have gone down. They would benefit a few teams in Villa’s area,” he told Birmingham mail.

“They need another attacking player to give them more options up top and another central midfielder. They aren’t crying out for someone in any position, but they are looking for that next level of player to push them up the league. They have a decent strong squad.”
